Duties:

WXPN is looking for a part-time, temporary Producer for World Cafe. World Cafe is a 2-hour daily national music program distributed by NPR. The producer will be primarily responsible for World Cafe’s Latin music coverage and must be able to report, edit and produce self-contained pieces about the Latin music world as well as edit and produce the work of the hosts and other contributors for radio and digital distribution. S/he will be responsible for the development, research, post-production, and editing of the content around Latin Roots as well as other duties as assigned. The position is available immediately, 18 hours a week for up to 2 years, renewal contingent upon grant funding.

 

Qualifications:

BA/BS or equivalent experience required. At least three years of outstanding production and editorial decision making experience in radio, television or podcasting required. Must have demonstrated proficiency in writing and editorial abilities and the ability to research, develop and source stories.  Must be proficient in Spanish. Must have demonstrated experience in storytelling, developing a narrative arc of an interview and excellent understanding of the standards and practices of journalism. Must possess excellent technical skills & experience with software like Pro Tools. Adobe Audition & Cool Edit to produce and edit content as well as blogging software like WordPress and content management systems. The ideal candidate must have impeccable organizational skills, a successful history of managing a demanding workload, and demonstrated the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. A strong candidate should be deeply immersed in the world of Latin music, with an understanding of the AAA format, interested, curious, and excited about the musical landscape and able to bring creative ideas to the team.
